NCAA good at counting money, not the number of teams in a conference

The NCAA. . . . where the only numbers that matter are the ones with a dollar sign in front.

It was announced today that Utah was invited to, and will probably join, the Pacific 10 Conference.  This was the latest move in the recent game of musical chairs, that has seen the additions and defections of schools in more than one major conference across the country.

For those of you keeping score at home, it means that now the Big-10 and Pac-10 each have 12 schools, while the Big-12 has 10 schools. But, geography, arithmetic, and rivalries be damned, the NCAA wants to let you know that it will always do what is best for its $chools and $tudent athletes, especially the ones that play sports other than football.
