All right stop, collaborate and listen

If there was a problem, yo I'll solve it

That was the message from Tampa Bay’s front office to Rays fans last night as they tried to boost attendance for the AL East’s 2nd place team.  Having already taken the conventional route to selling tickets, winning, the Rays took the next logical step to get the turnstyles and ladies’ hips moving:  first pitch and post game concert performed by none other than Vanilla Ice himself, Robert Van Winkle.

Seems like a desperate move for a franchise that is 233-177 since the start of the 2008 season, but hey when you’re 10th out of 14 AL teams in attendance, I guess nothing is off limits.  Who knows, maybe Rays GM Andrew Friedman got sick of looking at BJ Upton’s .230 batting average and wanted to see if Van Winkle could still handle the bat (watch the whole clip if you want, but go to minute 8 to see the action).
